Quiltober Quilt from Becca's Crazy Projects

I sewed the columns and rows together for my Quiltober quilt.
I decided to frame the center with a narrow 2" border and then a 6" border. If I had picked the outer border earlier in the process, I might have added more blues to the blocks and fewer greens and oranges. Not that it matters. I still have plenty of 2.5" charm squares. I might make another.

Quilt Piecing from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been piecing charity quilts using some of the leftovers from other projects. I grabbed squares that matched the snake fabric to put together this simple quilt.
I had a stack of half-square triangle pieces cut so I matched them up and pieced this little quilt.
The last few half-square triangle pieces became these churn dash blocks. This one is my favorite of the quilt tops I made last week.

Quiltober Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Remember my project box full of Quiltober blocks? Well, I pulled out that project box and started putting the blocks on the design wall.
I'm not sure this is the final layout but here is where I stand. Do you have any scrappy projects you would like to finish this year?

Quiltober Blocks from Becca's Crazy Projects

At the beginning of October, the Nine Patch a Day group started their annual Quiltober project. I grabbed a yard of red fabric for my constant and some of my light 2.5" strips. I used the Creative Grids Triangle ruler.
I spent October piecing these blocks until I had enough for a good-sized quilt. How many? More than 100 blocks. I need to get them up onto the design wall and sewn up into a quilt. These squares came from my overflowing bin of 2.5" charms. I didn't even make a dent in that bin.

My favorite ...

Scrappy Mountain Majesty from Becca's Crazy Projects

Remember my big squares?
I made them into these great blocks using Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesties tutorial.
Then I added a couple borders. Ready for quilting.

Trying Something New from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been looking at the tutorial from Bonnie Hunter for her Scrappy Mountain Majesties for a couple weeks. I decided it was time to find some coordinating light and dark prints and make some half-square triangle blocks. Check back in about a week to see how they turn out.

Scrappy Four-Patch in Square from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes we make scraps. These are the leftover strips from squaring up my blocks.
I saw a YouTube video about making the four-patch in square block. These are super easy to make and use up scraps. The center four-patch is pieced using contrasting 2.5" strips. the corners were cut using the half-square triangle Accuquilt Go die. You can also cut a 4.5" square on the diagonal.
After piecing, you will have to square them up and trim off the excess. This where my 6.5" square ruler comes in handy. It has markings for the center of the ...

Christmas Quilt from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend asked me to quilt up this fun little half-square triangle quilt.
The quilt is just a few inches wider than a piece of quilting cotton so we pieced the backing with a coordinating green. I used a edge-to-edge quilting design with swirls, bells, and holly leaves. I like how it works with the background white fabric. Quilted with white So Fine and Omni threads from Superior Threads.
Trimmed and ready for binding. Half-square-triangle blocks are a snap if you have cutting tools that work for you. My favorite are the Easy Angle Rulers (links below).

Tools and supplies ...
